NCCR AntiResist hosts annual AMR networking event
NCCR AntiResist held its annual networking event on Tuesday 5 March at the Biozentrum in Basel. The title of the evening was The Antibiotic Pipeline: Spotlight on the Ecosystem, and the speakers were able to give the attendees insight into the process of developing antimicrobials, from research through to drug development.
Speaking at the event were Prof. Urs Jenal of NCCR AntiResist, Dr. Silke Alt from the Management Team at INCATE, Dr. Michael Graz, CEO of Disperazol Pharma, and Prof. Kevin Outterson, Executive Director of CARB-X.
Urs Jenal gave the attendees a deep dive into NCCR AntiResist research, and Silke Alt followed up by talking about how INCATE is supporting start-ups in the AMR space. Michael Graz was able to expand on his personal experience of starting a company and developing an antimicrobial, and Kevin Outterson gave a detailed outline of the push and pull requirements for drug development
With a record attendance of just under 300, the event was a great success, with conversations going on until late in the evening. Our grateful thanks go to our speakers on the night, and we are already looking forward to the 2025 event.
